Episode 111 - Get healthy your way | The only rules that actually matter
Getting healthy can feel like the most complex and confusing thing in the world…
…but what if I told you it didn’t have to be?
Eat a salad, do HIIT 3x per week, go for a 5k run (even if you hate it), do yoga, go to pilates, meditate 30 minutes per day sitting cross-legged on the floor. Avoid carbs at all costs! Oh no, wait, scratch that don’t eat fat! No actually, it’s protein that’s bad…
Aren't we sick of the noise? No matter what you are being told, let this one truth sink in:
There will never be a one-size-fits-all solution that is wiser than what you already know to be true for you.
It might feel like there are a million things that you should be doing to get healthy.
And while focusing on your body is absolutely fundamental, as with most things, the real changes take place first in your mind.
Because what is actually most important about getting healthy is the story you’re telling yourself about it.
If I know one thing for sure it’s this:
You’ll never get where you want to be by hating every step along the way there.
What if getting healthy didn't have to be so hard — or so boring, or so miserable, or so not-you?
What if you could uncover the rules of what actually works for you (and let all the other ones fall by the way-side)?
What do you want to eat?
How do you want to move?
How do you want to feel?
We ask these questions all the time on the podcast, but today we’re asking them specifically about your health.
Because the wellness industry might have a lot of opinions about what your healthy life should look like. Here's mine:
It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks — yours is the only one that counts.What if you actually got to make the rules about what works for you?
Can you imagine a world where the only authority on what works for YOU and YOUR BODY is, well, YOU?
Who actually knows you and your body better than you?
So why are we so keen to outsource our power to ‘the experts’ when we’re actually the expert on ourselves?
Your health is no different.If you get quite you’ll find you actually know which movement feels best, what food makes you feel vital and alive and what your body is genuinely craving in any given moment.
Mix that in with a healthy dose of self-responsibility and you’ve got yourself the perfect recipe for a healthy life!
